“Ask Granny” originated from the exhibition of the same name held by OHH Dear Communications at Oil Street Art Space in 2022. Since then, “Ask Granny” has evolved into an ongoing project, developing multiple initiatives focused on seniors and intergenerational themes. These include the “Generations Kitchen” exhibition, the “Generations Bing Sutt,” the “Tong Sui Kitchen with Mr Bean & Ms Sesame” community projects, workshops and market stalls, as well as a publishing project titled “Ask Granny”, with further developments underway.

As one of the few creative studios in Hong Kong dedicated to senior-related projects, OHH Dear Communications has always emphasised co-creation with elders, enabling them to express and realise their visions. Throughout the development of the “Ask Granny” project, the studio has worked closely with participating seniors, aiming to transform the insights gained from elders into exhibitions, workshops, and market stalls. This approach seeks to highlight the brilliance of seniors, remove age barriers, and create common ground that connects people across generations.
This publishing project, produced in collaboration with Hummingbird Publishing, showcases the co-created outcomes of OHH Dear Communications and the seniors involved in the “Ask Granny” project. It also serves as a concise summary of over two years of project development. Building on the original “Ask Granny” exhibition and subsequent interviews, we posed 20 questions to 26 seniors, engaging in over 30 hours of conversations, which were then curated into the book “Ask Granny”. The book is available for purchase at bookstores.
